The Certified Nursing Assistant is a non-professional who, under the general supervision of a Registered Nurse, assists in providing direct patient care by performing non-professional nursing duties. Patient care employees must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to patients of all age groups–must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development through the life span, possess the ability to assess data reflective of the patient’s status, and interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patient’s needs in relation to age and to provide the care needed as described in the department’s policies and procedures.
Practices appropriate measures of infection control using principles of standard precautions. Aware of pt limitations & delivers care appropriately. Assures proper ID, allergy & Fall bands on pts. Has skill in the use of equipment & devices pertinent to the care of the pt Keeps safe/clean environment, reports defective equipment when seen: Maintains fall precautions on pts.at risk. Demonstrates knowledge & skills in all unit specific policies/standards. Maintains/updates own knowledge & competencies. Obtains patients self-report of pain when taking vital signs & reports to nurse. Observes pt for signs of discomfort.
Minimum Experience: Six (6) months related experience preferred. Required License/ Certification: Current California C.N.A Certification, BLS, MAB certification (90 days upon hire),
