Under minimal supervision performs nuclear medicine procedures as requested by a physician to assist in the diagnosis and treatment of patients. Performs any combination of the following duties depending on the area of assignment. Should be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served on his/her unit. Performs other duties as assigned. 1. Performs nuclear medicine procedures by administering radiopharmaceuticals, IV and PO for concentration in specific areas of the body, under supervision of a physician. Performs imaging procedures of specific body areas by using gamma cameras and computer analysis. Completes necessary documentation. 2. Cares for patients during procedures by assisting them to rest rooms, giving them blankets, etc. Prepares patients for their exams.
***The tech will need to know cardiac and general NM. If they do not know both then the preference is cardiac NM as we do a lot of Lexiscans.
REQUIRED:
1.Current California Nuclear Medicine license (RHN)
2.National Certification (CNMT) or ARRT (N)
3.Current BLS/Healthcare Provider status as per American Heart Association standards
4. Valid Driver’s License
REQUIRED:
Completion of an accredited Nuclear Medicine Training Program
