Description

The Certified Phlebotomy Technician is responsible for blood collection procedures on patients of all age groups and provides technical support to the on-duty Clinical Lab Scientist (CLS). The Certified Phlebotomy Technician performs instrument maintenance under CLS total supervision, performs order entry of requested test procedures utilizing the laboratory’s current order system and performs order entry of send-out requests utilizing the current reference lab(s) methodology. He/she will process in-house specimens and specimens to be sent out following hospital procedures. He/she will download and receive reports from reference laboratories and log receipt dates on reference lab manifests. The Certified Phlebotomy Technician is responsible for making copies of reports and distributing to required sites as needed, files copies of all reference lab, pre-employment, and confidential reports in the laboratories filing system, retrieves and makes copies, upon proper request, to the requesting parties, charts copies of all final, cumulative, and reference laboratory reports to all requesting departments of the Medical Center according to Hospital policy. He/she answers the telephone and help clients with all inquiries. He/she obtains help from the CLS for technical questions, assists the CLS with loading, preparation and general laboratory clean up.

1. Bachelor's degree in biological sciences or Associate Degree preferred 2. Current CA Certified Phlebotomy Technician license required 3. BCLS required (within 30 days of employment) 4. 2-12 months' previous experience in an Acute care facility laboratory preferred with demonstrated ability to perform phlebotomy on all age groups. 5. Knowledge of medical terminology and laboratory procedures preferred 6. Experience with computer based systems is preferred 7. Full command of the English language (verbal and written)

Salary22.00 - 22.00 Hour
